Juho Rinne, Varma

Who are you and what do you do for work?

Juho Rinne works as an IT specialist at Varma. In the video, he talks about what he has studied and what his job involves.

Rinne has a Master of Science degree in computer, communication and information sciences from Aalto University, where he majored in acoustics and audio technology.

“I worked on a pensions sector project for a consulting firm, which led to a summer job at Varma. At some point, I began to feel less like a consultant and more like a part of the Varma community. So when a suitable job opened up, I seized the opportunity, applied for it, and eventually made my way to my current role.”

Rinne works mainly as a technical requirements specialist. His work includes developing new solutions, sorting through the wishes of the business department and analysing the practical implications of law reforms, for example.

“I use all of this background material to form a full picture of what needs to be done. Then I turn it into specifications for developers to put into action.”

Rinne says that the best thing about his work is its varied nature.

“When you start in the morning, you never know what the day has in store. We have a massive system that is interlinked with several other systems. Even after years of working on it, there’s always something new to discover.”
