Johanna Juujärvi, Aktia

Who are you and what do you do for work?

Johanna Juujärvi works as a portfolio manager at Aktia. In the video, she talks about what she has studied and what her job involves.

“In a nutshell, I manage investment portfolios. This means that I select what to invest in and communicate with both my clients and my managers about how the market is doing, what we can expect from it and how the portfolio has been built.”

Juujärvi has studied both finance and national economics. She started out as an analyst and has since worked in various fund and portfolio management roles, including direct portfolio management and fund selection, which means picking the best funds for portfolios.

“My work is really varied. It requires me to work independently, be analytical and communicate my findings. It also involves teamwork: I actively collaborate with both my team and the wider community. This means that I have to be able to be both a good writer and a good speaker.

“What I like most about my job is continuous development. I learn new things all the time, which keeps my mind sharp. The Finnish culture places high value on humility, but I have to say that getting to constantly learn new things in an inspiring community with interesting people is just the best thing.”
